Truth

A sonnet about the truth. People accept what they want to hear even if it’s a lie and reject truth if it’s against their interests.

TRUTH

Truth’s sweet embrace, the wise do warmly greet,
While lies, like sugared tales, bring false delight.
Yet people’s ears crave words that softly meet
Their desires, veiled from truth’s piercing light.

Oh, why do hearts seek comfort over fact?
Preferring stories spun to fit their dreams,
In truth’s stark presence, they fear to react,
Preferring whispered falsehood’s gentle streams.

Accept the outcome, lay your worries low,
For stress won’t mend the fabric of the real.
The wise, they grasp the seeds that truth does sow,
And in its light, they find the strength to heal.

Embrace the truth, though it may sting at first,
For wisdom’s path is where our hearts are nursed.
