REVEAL
Gladly you departed,
Shutting my window to your tainted light, my heart restarted.
Like a ship beyond land’s borders, you sailed out of sight,
A chapter closed, embracing the healing night.
Walking with you was on a path with nails and pebbles,
Our kisses felt like barbed wire, and your words were like glass revels.
Your heart, crystal cold, the air around you dense and heavy,
Yet, my heart was sold, entangled in a web so heady.
How did my will corrode to your slippery touch?
Your scaly skin, once repulsive, felt warm as such.
Your smile, laughter sought after,
Gaze that once sparked trepidation’s laughter.
Face-to-face with your true nature,
Our love’s waters froze to ice, a cold rupture.
Your skeleton revealed, a creation less divine,
A truth that brings both relief and a sad line.
I’m glad you left,
That I can finally close my window shutters to your tainted light,
Like a ship that’s left land’s borders, you’ve sailed beyond my sight.
Being with you was like walking barefeet on the ground with nails and pebbles.
Whenever we kissed, it felt like your lips were barbed wire, and your tongue was made of glass.
Your heart was crystal cold, the atmosphere around you dense and heavy, but my heart was clearly sold.
How did my iron will corrode to your slippery touch?
How did your scaly skin feel warm to rub against?
How was your smile and laughter ever sought?
How did your gaze ever elicit trepidation?
Face-to-face with your true nature,
The warm waters of our love have turned to layers of thick ice.
With your skeleton exposed, it’s hard to call you God’s creation.
The truth that breathes forth both relief and sadness, a heart-renting revelation.
