Our Africa, Our Home

A poem of unity with nature in Chirundu, Zimbabwe, where elephants live with people in harmony.

Our Home, Our Africa

Some call it Africa, we call it HOME,
A land where the sun’s golden rays warmly comb,
Through verdant valleys and majestic hills,
Where life’s raw beauty our hearts gently fills.

In Chirundu, where Zimbabwe’s spirit thrives,
Elephants and people share their lives,
Side by side in harmony they dwell,
A tale of coexistence they tell.

We drink from the same buckets, pure and clear,
Each drop a testament to life we hold dear,
The elephants, with trunks dipped low,
Sway gracefully, as gentle waters flow.

Our land, our Africa, is shared with grace,
Between man and beast, in this sacred place,
Beneath acacia trees and starry skies,
Our bond with nature never dies.

From childhood, we knew the wild’s embrace,
Playing with elephants, our steps they trace,
Gigantic friends with memories deep,
Their wisdom in silence, our secrets they keep.

Their mighty tusks and gentle eyes,
Reflect the soul of African skies,
A continent where ancient rhythms beat,
Where every dawn is a new story complete.

In Chirundu, life’s rhythm is slow,
The Zambezi’s whisper as waters flow,
Elephants wander, unbound and free,
A symbol of what true peace can be.

The earth beneath our feet, rich and warm,
Carries the echo of the elephant’s form,
Their footsteps leave marks on our hearts,
A reminder that in nature, we all play parts.

Their presence is a comfort, a timeless song,
A reminder that here, we belong,
In this land where humanity and wildness blend,
In Chirundu, we have a friend.

Our nights are serenaded by the calls,
Of creatures that roam these ancient halls,
The elephants, in moonlight’s gentle glow,
Move like shadows in a tranquil show.

We wake to the symphony of the dawn,
The first light on the horizon drawn,
Birds sing, and elephants stroll,
In our hearts, they play a vital role.

Our bond with these giants is one of trust,
Built on the sacred earth’s crust,
We share our lives, our hopes, our fears,
Through countless seasons and endless years.

They are the guardians of our land,
Together, united, we stand,
Their strength and wisdom guide our way,
In Chirundu, we find a brighter day.

Some call it Africa, but it’s our home,
From the savannah to the forest’s dome,
A land where man and beast unite,
In a shared embrace of pure delight.

Here, our children learn the tales,
Of ancient times and wandering trails,
They grow with the knowledge deep and true,
Of the harmony in the wild’s blue.

Our home is a tapestry of life,
Woven with joy, and sometimes strife,
But in Chirundu, we’ve found the key,
To live as one, in unity.

We drink from the same buckets, yes indeed,
Each drop a bond, a living creed,
To honor the land that gives us birth,
And cherish the life that shares our earth.

In Chirundu, Zimbabwe’s beating heart,
We play our role, we do our part,
With elephants by our side, we roam,
In Africa, where we are home.
