My Husband Didn’t Know I am A Millionaire

My husband didn’t know I was a millionaire. I chose to hide it from him because I was afraid of losing him since he was average. He’s the kind of man who believes that a wealthy woman can’t be a good or submissive wife. I convinced him to have a small, private wedding to keep the event low-key and avoid attention. I lived a simple lifestyle and stayed out of the public eye.

But soon, my husband started bullying me. He disrespected me and did all sorts of demeaning things. I endured it all. Many times, he insulted my late parents, calling them poor and claiming they had left me with nothing. That’s when I realized that he believed his money gave him the power to mistreat a “poor” woman.

There were times when he would go without leaving any money for food, thinking he was starving me. But how could he starve me when I own 14 luxury restaurants across different provinces? He also made me stop working because he wanted a wife who depended on him completely.

One day, after he had left me without money for food, my manager delivered food from one of my restaurants. When my husband got home and saw it, he shouted, “Where did you get the money to order food from such a fancy restaurant?” In my mind, I was laughing because he knew about the restaurant but had no idea I owned it.

He started assuming that I am dating the man who had bought the food for me. He also banned me from using any of his cars, but then saw a well-dressed man dropping me off in a car far better than his. Furious, he threatened to kick me out, but I wasn’t afraid, and I think he sensed that.

He continued staying out late and even brought other women home. At one point, he told me he was going to marry a second wife and brought her to the house. I stayed calm.

One day, my agent told me a company was up for sale—the same company my husband worked for. I decided to buy it. My husband was hoping for a better boss, not knowing that I was the one who had bought the company.

That same week, he handed me divorce papers. By Monday, I showed up at the office as the new owner. When he saw me, he was in shock. After work, he rushed home before me and prepared dinner. He’s been begging for forgiveness ever since, but I haven’t decided what to do yet.

What do you think I should do?
