Hurricane, a poem by Kelvin Jasi, is a reflection of the past and the changes that come with it.
HURRICANE
In the looming shadow of my past,
Every present word and act cast.
Seeking escape, to dark corners I’m drawn,
A hoodie shields me, optimism withdrawn.
Blinded to the light of the future’s grace,
Yesterday’s glory consumes hope’s trace.
A night of failures haunts my sight,
Old mistakes’ stench, a lingering plight.
Yet, in this deep darkness profound,
Glimpses of daylight can still be found.
A violent wind outside whispers within,
Calling to abandon pain and rediscover my true name.
In the storm, perhaps, my greatness is engraved,
A reminder in chaos, a path to be paved.
