Chapter 6
On the scheduled date for Olinda and Donald’s wedding, Chloe stormed the wedding venue but she was not permitted to come into the wedding hall.
Olinda was a very cunning lady. She had instructed the security men at the entrance of the wedding hall to be on the lookout for Chloe. She had saved Chloe’s WhatsApp display picture and gave it to all the security men at her wedding venue.
She was devastated and waited around. “This is really a wedding big! Damn!” She was shocked by a big crowd that trooped and cars that graced the venue.
When the wedding was over, Chloe followed the car that conveyed the couple home. She stared at a big duplex situated in a peaceful crescent ass the car drove into the homestead watching from afar. Her heart was bleeding. “How can I get a chance to speak with Donald? That’s all I want. Please, God.” She blamed herself for all that was happening.
She waited for hours until her heart ran out of patience. She quietly walked away in tears. Chloe waved down a cab at the bus stop to take her home. Al the way home, she cried her eyes out.
The cabman heard Chloe’s cry and got disturbed. “Madam, I don’t know what happened but I want to assure you that everything will be fine. Please, get comfortable and have faith”, the cab driver said calmly as Chloe wiped her tears.
To feel better, Chloe barely opened up her heart and told the cab driver everything.
The cabman after listening attentively and a moment of thinking said, “my sister, respect a man who doesn’t have it all but trying to do everything for you. You pushed your husband away with your own hands. There are some ladies out there who don’t want a man to provide for them. All they want is to be married. You were blessed to have a man that loves you and at the same time provides for you even though it’s not enough. You should have appreciated the little he brings to the table. I think your husband is angry with you, that’s why he agreed to marry that lady. Please, look for a way and apologize to him”
“What? There’s no need. Olinda succeeded in snatching my husband. I don’t know what she did to my husband. The Donald I know will never leave me like this”, Chloe entered still in tears.
“My sister, I’m not forcing you but it’s advice. Please, just apologize to him. Things will never be the same if you apologize to him”, the cabman insisted.
The next day, Chloe stormed Olinda’s house with the police. She felt defeated, Margaret couldn’t look at her in the face while her husband stared at her speechlessly. Chloe felt like dying but the presence of the policemen she came with, gave her a ray of hope.
“Officer, this is the kidnapper, this woman kidnapped my husband”, Chloe said.
Immediately Olinda came out of the kitchen. At the sight, Olinda smiled mockingly facing Chloe, and said, “what does this foolish woman want here?”
“You shameless woman, husband snatcher.” (She jeered with face squashed.) “With all your money, you couldn’t buy a husband, instead you want to mine. Why?”, Chloe cut in angrily.
“What are you saying, fool? Have you forgotten that I gave you three hundred thousand dollars? I did buy myself a good husband”, Olinda responded softly tilting her lips.
“Hey! Madame, enough”, one of the policemen said.
“Are you Miss Olinda…?” The policeman added.
“Officer, point of correction. I’m Mrs. Olinda, I got married yesterday. I’m married to this gentleman yesterday and we are planning for our honeymoon”, Olinda said pointing to Donald who was as cold as ice.
Chloe wondered why Donald was not talking. “Olinda, what have you done to my husband? He is quiet. What have you done to him?” Chloe turned to the police officer and said, “Officer, see, this woman had charmed my husband. She is desperate and everyone knows that. Desperate ladies are as dangerous a finger pulling the trigger”.
“Come on! Shut up, you foolish woman. Why do you keep saying, ‘my husband, my husband’? Donald is now my husband too and there’s no going back. You didn’t know that I was desperate when I offered you three hundred thousand dollars, right? Are you that foolish?” Olinda added and Chloe felt like strangling her.
She then turned to the policemen and said, “Officer you heard her. She kidnapped my husband…”
“Enough! Woman, we don’t have all day. You brought us here that someone kidnapped your husband, so why don’t you give us a chance to do our job?”, one of the policemen said
“Officer, my brother is not kidnapped. These two women are his wives. The person you should arrest is Chloe. This stupid woman sold my brother for hundred thousand dollars”, Margaret uttered and Chloe picked her jaw.
Chloe plucked her eyes open in shock and said to herself, “Unbelievable! I never imagined that Margaret will one day turn against me.”
“Enough of this drama.” Donald finally spoke planting her eyes in Chloe’s eyes, “Officer, do I look like I was kidnapped? These two women are my wives.”
Donald strode towards the police officer, “in fact Officer, my first wife gave her consent before I married Olinda.” Donald added while pointing at Chloe who was now in tears.
The police officers finally left and Olinda marched Chloe out of her house. As Chloe walked out of the house premises, Donald stared at her speechlessly.
