My Breath

My breath, my life, my thoughts… how do rocks live long?

MY BREATH

I reside in languid days,
Threaded with the art of waiting.

There exists a current,
A ceaseless stream
of majestic journeys,
of stones cascading,
falling from the heavens,
only to dissolve
under the cascade of waters.

In this stream, I dwell.

I perceive the mountains
whispering in hushed tones, at midnight,
sighing in their unique language.
I sense that I might grasp it
if I lend my ear long enough.

And I might converse
in the language of stone
and the dialect of rock
if I could retain
my breath long enough.
