I still remember the day you said goodbye
The way you looked as you waved goodbye
The way your face showed no emotion
And the way you left without a tear in your eye
I still remember the words you said
The way you said you needed space
The way you said there was nothing left
And the way you said our love was a waste
I still remember the pain I felt
The way my heart broke in two
The way I thought I’d never be whole
And the way I wished I never knew you
But now I know our love was real
And I’m grateful for the days we shared
The memories we made and the laughs we had
I’m thankful for the time we spent together
And even though you’re not here with me
And I can’t write you a letter
I still think of you fondly
And I’ll never forget the love we had together.
